Wise words from a very wise man
Right now,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], many people are feeling VERY scattered...distracted...unfocused. It seems there is SO much to do (much of it not at all fun or fulfilling), and that there are so many "fires
to put out", that finding time to create the life you want seems nearly impossible.
You may have looked into things like the Law of Attraction, hoping to use these principles to make

Let me shed some light on this...
The way we were brought up – to do well at school, maybe go on to University, get a good job, a partner, house,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], mortgage, children – That life has changed so much.
The world is in financial turmoil, the world’s weather is changing and we’re like boats stuck out at sea in a storm wondering where the next sight of dry land will be.
We don’t know where to turn.
We can’t rely on the ‘security’ of a job to be there until we retire
When I was growing up people were expected to be in a job for 40 years, their furniture was bought to ‘last for their lifetime,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], as were their cars, a ‘holiday’ was usually a week in Margate which they saved for all year.
You got presents only on your birthday and Christmas, you had ‘good clothes’ which you only wore on ‘high days and holidays’!!
We now live in a ‘microwave’ society; everybody wants everything and they want it NOW
And often when they don’t get it they become disgruntled, unhappy, dissatisfied with what they do have.
We forget how truly lucky we are and what we really do have.
A lot of people are trying to make HUGE leaps from where they are to where they want to be and it's just
too overwhelming. There are so many "Yes, but..." scenarios ("Yes, but I don't have the time....Yes, but
I don't know how"...you get the idea) that people are all but paralyzed from taking action.
They have goals and ambitions but end up in total fear that they cannot accomplish what they set out to do.
We’re full of ‘stuff’ (thoughts, beliefs) that we got when we were children that don’t serve us anymore but are hampering us to move on with our lives.
What we need to do is get rid of those limiting beliefs and put in place ones that resonate with who we are now.
If we’re in business it’s all too easy to be so blinkered with what we’re doing we lose sight of the real goal.
I liken it to having an appointment somewhere you’ve never been before and sitting in your car in your drive and setting the Satnav. You set off, but you decide you know better and totally ignore the directions. You end up lost, frustrated, probably late or maybe even missing the meeting altogether.
Perhaps if we took things more slowly, focused on one thing at a time, listened to our intuition (the Satnav) we’d reach our destination a whole lot more smoothly, easily, quickly and we might even enjoy the scenery along the way.
Well easy for me to say, you think, but how do we stop using the scattergun approach. We get so much ‘stuff’; emails, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, a plethora of information we feel we ‘have to’ read, pressure to buy more stuff, things we think we ‘have’ to deal with that sometimes we find half a day has gone and what have we really accomplished? Hmmmmmm.
What we need to do is simplify things. Internally and externally.- You will be surprised how this can free up space and time for you and can lead to more joy and more Flow. There are many ways to simplify your life.
Here are just a few:
-Write down in list form what is important to you – (before I start sessions with clients and after our initial conversation I always send them a questionnaire which lists things like health, relationships work, career,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], money, and I ask them where on a scale of 1 – 10 they see that particular aspect and do they want to improve that or are they satisfied with where that is at the moment. You’ll be surprised how it focuses the mind. It makes you see what is important. From that list you can decide what you want to work on ; next write down another list – what aspect; how will you get there? What actions are you prepared to take to achieve those ‘goals’. Again it’s all focus. You might want to improve your business, get more clients/customers, - but what are you currently doing to get them? Are you making a list of who you want to speak to? Are you actually picking up a phone and doing it?
Do you want to get healthier? Give up smoking, lose some weight – what are you goals? What are you doing about it?
I find writing down clears the mind enormously.
Other things you can do are:
-Limit stuff to what you need and cherish. – stop buying because it’s the latest must-have gadget, pair of shoes, bag, (the current one you have is more than good and besides you’ll never accumulate wealth if all you do is spend what you have)
-Spend time in nature instead of shopping or watching mindless TV. The fresh air will be much better for you than playing on the Wii. Get the kids to join in! it will be better for them as well
-Clear out clutter (internally and externally). Clearing clutter is a wonderful way of ‘detoxing’ your environment – cluttered places usually means dust and dirt; And you can’t think clearly when you reside in a mess whether it’s the office, your home, or a wardrobe or cupboard. Go with the idea if you’ve not worn or used it for 6 months, get rid of it – sell it, give it charity BUT GET RID. De-cluttering brings more energy into your environment, home, office, - you will notice the difference. You’ll also have more space for good to come in.
-Be willing to say "no". That’s an interesting one ; how often do you say ‘yes’ to someone when really you don’t want to? So you end up resenting that you’re doing it and not from a ‘good place’ When you say ‘no’ it’s a very free-ing thing,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]; it means that when you do say ‘yes’ you truly mean it and your endeavour is so much better and more appreciated,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
-Eat simply and healthy. The healthier you eat the better you will feel, the less likely you are to be ill and the more energy you will have. It’s a Fact.
-Release complicated, unhealthy relationships. Like limiting beliefs unhealthy relationships don’t serve us. (or the other people in it) It’s not easy and sometimes it can be very painful but in the long run you will benefit as will the other person/people. Life is too short to make yourself or other people unhappy. We were not put on this earth to ‘put up with things’ yet so often we do.
-Let go of worrying about the future and "be here now". That’s not easy either. Especially if you’re a ‘worry wart’; Louise Hay said ; “the point of power is in the present moment”. What that means is yesterday has gone (we can’t do anything about that) tomorrow isn’t here yet; all we have is today. If we plant the right ‘seeds’; ideas, aspirations,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], take appropriate actions, then we’ll reap the rewards. But there is no point worrying – sometimes life throws us a curve ball and we have to deal with it and get on. But lying awake at 3 in the morning and going over and over something doesn’t help. It will be what it will be. If you know you’ve done your best,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], let it go – so often we find that our greatest fears are not realised at all and what a waste of energy and time (and sleep!!)
Be Grateful – being truly grateful for what you have – the attitude of gratitude is such a powerful manifestor. When you look round and see what you do have in your life,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], what you’ve accomplished so far – don’t take it for granted; tell those you love that you love them; play with your children before they grow up and away from you; teach them to appreciate what they have not just in material possessions so that they can teach others. Write a list of 5 things you're grateful for each day - getting that parking space, having someone say 'thank you'; seeing your child do well at school, getting through to someone you've been trying for 6 months; whatever it is - being appreciative and grateful makes us feel good and so we give out a better vibration and more good stuff starts happening.
And finally – ENJOY – we spend so much time fretting, worrying, that we forget to just – RELAX AND ENJOY – enjoy what we have, our families, friends, the sun (when it shines) the possibilities that are out there for us if we can just see them – and we will if we take the time

It has finally come down on the Grand National Party. Nor was it a sudden rain in an unlikely season, for all that some people say it was unexpected. The approval rating of the GNP is well over 50 percent, and the combined approval ratings of the GNP's leading presidential contenders Lee Myung-bak and Park Geun-hye are well over 70 percent. But if some people conclude that Wednesday��s by-election defeat was therefore unexpected, they have no grip on reality. The biggest supporter of the GNP is not the public but the ruling Uri Party,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], because it is loathed. By the same token,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], if it wasn��t for the president, Lee and Park couldn��t be enjoying such high popularity ratings today.
But Wednesday��s by-election was the first election where the president and the Uri Party, the two biggest supporters of the GNP, virtually disappeared from public view. As a result, the GNP was left floundering hopelessly. The popularity ratings of Lee and Park,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which the GNP has likened to the comfortable back of a chair, are based on their recognition value, not on public support. Their popularity seems to reflect an "I don't dislike them�� sentiment,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a low score on the unfriendly-feeling index. Even when they were on a roll, former presidents Kim Dae-jung and Kim Young-sam would make pratfalls whenever they were off their own turf. Voters are a scary bunch. They always look for someone to judge. The moment the president and the Uri Party disappear from public view,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the GNP becomes the next target, and both Lee and Park with it. But GNP candidates carried on with their noses in the air,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], boasting they could win elections if only they won the in-house nominations. Only four years ago, a shocked nation was to learn,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the GNP took ��truckloads�� of money in illegal campaign funds. If the voters punished it in the by-elections, it was for already nominating candidates for money again.
But that was not the only reason. A few days ago, the U.S. investment bank Morgan Stanley diagnosed France as the "new sick man of Europe." The bank said the "French Sickness" has succeeded to the "British Sickness" of the 1960s and 1970s and the "German Sickness" of the 1990s-2000s. Two million innocent young Frenchmen and -women are wandering about Britain and Ireland in search of jobs because their elders at home bought votes with false promises like "work less and get more," "retire early�� and "once your job, forever your job."
These days,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the GNP is copycatting the Uri Party in everything from pensions to North Korea policies: the story of France is not a story from a country far away. Genuine conservatives supposedly believe that bitter medicine is good for the body,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], while progressives peddle the illusion that candy is good for the body. Ignoring this principle, the GNP is trying to sell both medicine and candy. But people will buy medicine in the drugstore and candy at the candy store. Trying to sell both will just drive away customers. The party��s campaign strategy is innocent of that simple truth.
Koreans have been looking at Lee and Park for 40 years, ever since the black-and-white days when Lee was president of a construction company with a crew cut and Park was a girl with cropped hair. The two ran into problems only when they started ignoring the future for the sake of a sort of revamped past ? grand schemes of a Seoul-Busan canal and a train ferry between Korea and China. In the cracks, new leaves have sprouted from the decayed stumps of the old ruling parties. Today, Lee and Park should be thankful to the people, who showed them what to expect if they carry on like this. It is entirely up to Lee and Park whether they can turn the sound of the people clicking their tongues into a message of strength in preparation for the presidential election on Dec. 19.

A few years ago, as I read through my morning group of incoming emails,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I came upon a simple, yet unusual inquiry from a man in Guatemala. His name was Roland and he was from Sweden. He was seeking potential assistance from our organization, The Love Foundation, for a Mayan village that had been relocated because of a very destructive hurricane. He was endeavoring to help them with their basic needs as they settled near another village. I was intrigued; not just by the curious fact that a man from Sweden was in Guatemala trying to help some indigenous Mayans, there was something about the genuine tone and straightforward plea that captured my attention. I responded to Roland, and over the coming years, he would prove to be no ordinary man.
Within just a few weeks, he began to find funding for these basic needs and with each new email he asked me to edit,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I saw how the involvement of one man could change the lives of many. He did what others were unable or unwilling to do; he honored the dignity in these indigenous people and worked to help alleviate their challenges. One by one, he found solutions to each predicament. He wanted nothing more and nothing less than to see them happy and healthy. This was his reward.
He educated me, and those that would eventually receive these email requests,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], with the villagers’ immediate needs like basic shelter, kitchens and saunas (traditional Mayan bathing huts). He explained each necessity and why it was important to provide them as it related to their culture. Roland also described how they required warmer clothing and medication as their new home was much higher in altitude,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and hence colder, than their previous location and how this was adversely affecting their health, especially the children. These were practical issues and Roland was determined to solve each one as best he could.
From his initial help with this first village, Roland’s journey has evolved and brought him into many new circumstances as he has helped countless lives. Whether scholarships to help children get essential education, to finding doctors for extreme and critical health issues, he has moved every obstacle until he could bring them the help they required. His courage and determination has led to incredible results like getting the funding to create a lifelike artificial glass eye for a young girl who lost her sight in an unexpected household accident. Traveling sometimes for hours by bus, he has escorted patients and their families to the larger cities so that medical and dental procedures could be performed. He has obtained wheelchairs, had prosthesis made, brought food, clothing and gifts to the many villages. He even helped co-author and completely and beautifully illustrate a bi-lingual text book to help teach the Mayan children the equivalent Spanish language.
So, with little more than an internet café and new friend in America, he began to unfold his encounters with the Mayans of Guatemala seeking aid for their benefit. With each new email there came a large assortment of digital pictures attached. Roland was capturing the very essence of these people just as they were. Perhaps this is what endeared me more than anything else to him. His requests were always one of pure compassion and never that of sympathy or pity. He conveyed things as they were, without an attempt to make it an emotional appeal. He let the circumstances and the photos tell the story as it was,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], without a sense of duty, obligation or guilt. This was unconditional love in action.
Over the years, with each proposal I edit, Roland also unknowingly provides me a window into a world filled with a rich culture and wondrous heritage. Without our mutual connection, the email text and narratives, and the countless pictures (many hundreds at this point) I would never have had the privilege to learn and comprehend the Mayan culture as I do today.

Roland shared how, like many nations, the indigenous people have been displaced from their native ways and forced into extreme impoverished minority groups. His next email inquiry to me was also the source and catalyst of our new found collaboration and budding friendship – would I be willing to edit his proposals so that he could send them out to potential sources for funding? He felt his English, although good, was still grammatically out of order for western audiences and wanted to make sure he was understood. Naturally and joyfully I agreed.
Even though we are a nonprofit, Roland’s request was outside our scope and mission to provide direct financial assistance. Nevertheless, I felt an immediate sense of gratitude for this man’s willingness to help these people and a heartfelt connection to his authentic presentation. I decided I would offer whatever other assistance I could. His subsequent reply began a journey of correspondence that continues today. In the wake of these ongoing emails between us, I have learned more about the plight – and the beauty – of this indigenous Mayan culture than I could have ever imagined. Roland is truly their guardian angel and at the same time,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], an amazing teacher and friend to me.
I have not asked Roland what brought him to Guatemala in the first place – the question always seems pointless. What is important is that he is there and the world is better for it. Unconditional kindness knows no borders or boundaries; it simply comes from the heart and lifts the spirit of others as it is expressed. I know I am a better person for having interacted with Roland, the man from Sweden. I can only tell you that when I see the eyes and smiles in the pictures he takes of his Mayan friends, they are happy he is in their life too.

Clinging to the side of a mountain in Guatemala,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], this village was literally washed away as a hurricane-induced mudslide took what few resources these people had and sent them cascading down to the bottom of the ravine. Not only were their homes destroyed, the livestock, gardens and meager possessions were all lost. This village was economically poor before this happened and now they had nothing. They had to relocate to higher ground and this is where Roland magically entered their world.
